RE: Clog

or you could try one of these to shoot some fresh water back up into your black tank clog these with your black valve open let it stirr things up some then let er rip-hopefully RD I couldn't think of a better way to have a RV the movie moment, and maybe contaminate the water supply at the same time...

RE: Satellite in Trailer

With a very cheap female-female cable connector, I modified my Weingard outlet to work perfectly. I simply drilled a hole in it and attached the cable from the outside outlet to the female-female connector and re-installed the plate to the wall. I now have 2 connectors on the plate instead of one. I use a slip on type coax connector instead of a screw on one, and simply attach it to either the antenna one or the cable one, depending on my situation. I can use that outside connector now for CG cable or my Direct TV dish. IMHO, much easier, less expensive and cleaner than running a second cable or drilling a hole in the side of my trailer. this would work good in that location but would prevent use of CG cable to a bedroom TV... two cable connectors would work better... 1 being cable/dish in... 2 from the old amp connector... a short jumper cable between them would make things work as before for cable and removing the jumper to connect the dish would allow the dish to work at that point... there are also A/B switches that would work to... but I found it easier to run new cable to both outlets... this gives all choices at all outlets, all the time...

RE: 6 volt batteries

they needed water, but if the plates were covered the whole time that is not what caused your problem... there is a problem though, those batteries should last longer than one night...

RE: Clog

"The toilet flushes but the water stays near the top." I have seen this happen time and time again... especially with new campers or kids that use to much paper, not enough water or both... the clog is in the connector to the tank... the stick is used to push the clog down into the tank not from the outlet... although a stick may not always work it its not a straight connection into the tank... flushing by any method won't work until the clog gets into the tank.. other ways this happens, is by over filling the black tank before dumping or by leaving the dump valve open when on a sewered site... the CG's with pumping service get complaints all the time that their trailer was missed when the pumper came around... in almost every case it is clogged above the tank and the tank has been emptied... unless there is a straight pipe from the dump valve to the tank FK only does a fare job at cleaning the tank...

RE: Clog

I think his clog is above the tank... FK or a tank rinse won't touch it... very common problem caused by not using enough water or over filling the tank before dumping...

RE: Clog

you need to use more water when flushing... the pipe between the tank and potty is clogged with paper... use a stick or something to push it into the tank and dump again... (open valve just a little to add more water to the tank before flushing)

RE: storing things under your travel trailer

if you check Les Adams site the moderator on this forum, he has the blue tote and the spare mounted under the trailer... I wouldn't think there should be any problem using the space like that...

RE: Blowing out lines...End result

if you are just draining the low point drains and not blowing it out or adding Af you are just lucky...

RE: Did I break something?

I would not put silicone on it without knowing what material the grommet is made of... the silicone could ruin the grommet and cause you more problems...

RE: Doom and Gloom!

Dick a and Jallen4 In point of fact they are not skimming whatever percent, They are performing a service and being paid for it. When I travel if it were not for credit cards I would have to carry around 2 or 3 thousand $$. When you are 2500 miles from home few folks want to accept checks. ATMs cost to use so I appreciate the service cc's provide. They don't make me any poorer than I would be without them. what does you paying for the convenience of using a CC or ATM have to do with the bozos running the place cooking the books and skimming the profits... it sure seems both are true... CC's are convenient, and the bozos have more than their fingers in the cookie jar... if they collected your fees and earned their millions we wouldn't be bailing them out... and they seem to be making the country poorer for their efforts...

RE: Campground Etiquette

there are plenty of CG that allow things of this nature... most that say no mechanical or repair work, actually mean they don't want you changing your oil or replacing your brakes and things like that... I have been to parks that allow cleaning contractors wash and wax, or pressure wash, you rig, but they have to have self contained units for this purpose, and have set hours that usually do not include weekends... they can operate... I really don't see a problem with it, it generally isn't something that go's on every day... the guy must not be very good to take two full days with a buffer to wax a rig... companies I have seen do this have pressure washed the roof washed and waxed the rig and cleaned the carpets in hours not days... sometimes they come back the next day to do a roof treatment but this isn't a noisy job... expecting peace and solitude in a public setting is really not realistic at all times though... since you were not able to move to another site, it must be acceptable to many that frequent there, since they were full... the choice was always yours to move to another park and trade one noise for another... or to search out places with strict noise rules and boon docking... if there were three hundred sites there and they were full, there were also three hundred different reasons people were there... most have something to disappoint them and most choose to not let it bother them and have a good time in spite of these little annoyances...

RE: Trailer Brake Controllers & wiring harness?

it will come with a harness and you will have to hard wire the harness to your truck... it will have good instructions for doing this with it also... if you are not comfortable doing this, I would have it done somewhere... if the truck doesn't have the factory tow package you may have to run the brake wire and charge line to the rear of the truck... if it doesn’t have the factory tow package you may also need to add a transmission

RE: 6 volt batteries

are they full of water and are all the connections good... I need to add water to mine every 6 weeks or so... my Trojans are real old and will last 3 or 4 days without charging, even with light use of the furnace... you said the lights worked... were they nice and bright??? if it is wired wrong they will light on 6V just won't be very bright...cooler...

RE: 18V Drill and Scissor Jacks

scissors jacks only do so much (very little) stabilization... this is definitely a occasion where just because a little is good don't mean a lot is any better...

RE: GEO Method

I In regard to using dishwasher detergent......... I think it may be to corrosive for me. I don't know how corrosive it is, but there is almost nothing the effluent comes in contact with that would be hurt... maybe the sensors themselves, but I doubt it would hurt them... I think it would be much more diluted in the tank than it would be in a dishwasher...

RE: Sunchaser Awning Tube installation

wow... can you pull it out far enough to even cut the head off... maybe you should call A&E and see if they will have a authorized service center take care of it for you... if it is bent enough and you cut the head off but can't push it in so it clears the end cap without jamming up, there will be no chance of pulling it out then... did you get it from A&E or a local dealer... RE: GEO Method

the geo method has a lot of people that swear by it, I have no doubt they are satisfied... as many use happy camper treatment and are satisfied... I have used the geo method in the past, but I failed to find a lot of benefit with it... I use plain water and have no problems... I rinse maybe every other time and don't waste water rinsing 3 or 4 times but I have no idea if my sensors work or not, I haven't checked them in more than a year... try it and if you like it and think it helps keep using it... it won't hurt anything...

RE: Batteries

my Trojans are going on 14 years, and for the last 4 years I have been expecting to have to replace them... the Trojans in my electric golf cart are (E5) may of 1995 and still going strong... the originals were ten years old and the new ones made little difference in performance... I guess I wasted my money replacing them so soon...:) it should be easy to guess what mine will be replaced with... I think when I bought the last ones they were about $40 and I thought it was really a lot then to... if you want 6V golf cart batteries for less they are $66.+ at Sam's...

RE: awning fabric replacement

Our fabric was made brittle by the sun and the last hail storm through here pretty much did it in. Being a southerner, my first inclination was to patch it with good ol' duct tape. (At least I used a matching color!) I do want to replace the fabric though. I can't seem to find a cost listed for the replacement. Anyone have any idea what that stuff costs? The awning is, I think, somewhere around 20' on our Terry Dakota 722F. Obviously I'd have to measure it before ordering. Is there a good online source for this stuff or does the shipping eat up the savings? We have a Camping World and huge local dealership around there that has at least the selection of CW, is that a better idea? Thanks, Clint "Geek" best price I found was at JC Whitney... I got a original from A&E...
